Outset Greece supported the group exhibition Tempus Ritualis, which was presented in collaboration with local artists, arts organisations, and art education institutions both at CACT Contemporary Art Center of Thessaloniki (MOMus – The Metropolitan Organisation of Museums of Visual Arts of Thessaloniki) and at Galerie im Körnerpark, Berlin in 2014. The exhibition was curated by Christina Dimitriadis, Christine Nippe and Evanthia Tsantila and intended to explore and present new ritual forms in the making. Participating artists were Lena Athanassopoulou, Christina Dimitriadis, Nina Fischer & Maroan el Sani, Pia Greschner, Susanne Kriemann, Lia Nalbantidou, Christine Schulz, Eva Stefani and Evanthia Tsantila.
The exhibition Tempus Ritualis combined two contradictory terms. The word Tempus refers to the current time, a moment in the present, whereas rituals can only emerge through continuous repetition of specific cultural practices, accordingly placing them in the past. Using artistic methods, Tempus Ritualis – for its part – intended to explore and present new ritual forms in the making. The combination of these two concepts demonstrated a curiosity about the nature of the present and its potential to create new continuities: What characterises our time and what type of collective rituals are emerging in a time of crisis?
