Shilpa Gupta‘Untitled’, 2011

Outset India supported an exclusive evening of experiential art by the renowned contemporary artist, Shilpa Gupta, at the Gallery BMB, Mumbai. Untitled (2005), is part of the interactive video installation trend that has influenced the Indian art scene in the last decade. The work comments on the excesses of consumerism and security.

Shilpa Gupta creates artwork using interactive video, websites, objects, photographs, sound and public performances to probe and subversively examine such themes as desire, religion, and notions of security on the street as well as on the imagined border.

Her work has been shown in leading international institutions and museums such as the Tate Modern, Serpentine Gallery, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Daimler Chrysler Contemporary, Mori Museum, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New Museum, Chicago Cultural Center, Louisiana Museum, and Devi Art Foundation in Gurgaon amongst others.
