Outset Scotland was excited to support new commissions for Radiophrenia in 2017.
Radiophrenia is a temporary art radio station, at the vanguard of sound and transmission arts. It aims to promote radio as an art form, encouraging challenging and radical new approaches to the medium.
The station is managed by Mark Vernon and Barry Burns and first began broadcasting in April 2015. Its third edition was broadcast live from CCA, Glasgow, 24 hours a day, from 6th to 19th November 2017. The schedule featured live shows, pre-recorded features, a series of 14 newly commissioned radio works, and 12 live-to-air performances.
The specially commissioned live-to-air performances responded to an unusual brief: art that was simultaneously a live performance for the audience at CCA, and a radio broadcast for unseen listeners across Glasgow and online around the globe.
