Gabriel OrozcoPublic Garden for South London Gallery, 2016

In 2016, Gabriel Orozco (b. 1962, Mexico) designed a new public garden as part of the extension of South London Gallery in cooperation with 6A Architects, London and horticulturists at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

Bordering Camberwell College and Sceaux Gardens Council, this new public garden was the first to offer a curated programme of education workshops, film and performance events in South London.

The capital campaign was supported by the Arts Council England, Art Fund, Marian Goodman Gallery, Outset Young Patrons Circle, Cockayne – Grants for the Arts, Edwin Fox Foundation, The Henry Moore Foundation, Southwark Council’s ‘Cleaner Greener Safer’ Programme, The Ampersand Foundation, Finnis Scott Foundation, The London Community Foundation, The Panton Trust, Vicky Hughes and Catherine Petitgas.

To trust what is around you, animate and inanimate... Then you start to change the scale of things, of the public and private.

We are grateful to the Outset Young Production Circle for their imagination, foresight and generosity in supporting an exceptional project at a critical moment.
