Outset Netherlands supported the Amsterdam edition of the travelling Foam Talent group exhibition of 2019. The yearly exhibition provides young and upcoming photographers with a valuable and exciting platform to present their work and stimulate their future practice. For the exhibition Foam opened a temporary new location in the former financial office of Adyen called Foam Next Door.

The Foam Talent group exhibition is a travelling exhibition that brings together 20 international and innovative artists, all under the age of 35, whose work explores a myriad of subjects and techniques and therefore shape the future of contemporary photography.

Selected through the annual Foam Talent Call – the largest to date, with 1790 submissions from 75 different countries – the 20 photographers in the exhibition represent a cross section of the current state of photography. This year’s selection also included a striking number of long-term projects that acquire a greater depth of meaning over time. Equally striking is the embracing nature of a wide range of media by today’s artists, who rarely confine themselves to the camera alone.

Object installations in which the experience of the work is just as important as the aesthetic value are as readily found as classic two-dimensional photographs, while archival materials continue to plan an important role, together with multi-layered, long-term research.

This years exhibition included work by: Florian Amoser (Switzerland), He Bo (China), Valentine Bo (Ukraine), Chen Zhe (China), Maisie Cousins (United Kingdom), Sylvain Couzinet-Jacques (France), Jalan & Jibril Durimel* (France), Sophie Gabrielle (Australia), Eric Gyamfi (Ghana), Thomas Hauser (France), Gregory Eddi Jones (United States), Stelios Kallinikou (Cyprus), Takashi Kawashima (Japan), Dima Komarov (Russia), Lilly Lulay (Germany), Jaya Pelupessy* (Netherlands), Daniel Shea (United States), Senta Simond (Switzerland), Salvatore Vitale* (Italy) and Carmen Winant (United States).

Outset has always been at the forefront of providing support for new and upcoming artists and will continue doing this in the future.

The Foam Talent 2019 exhibition was on show in Amsterdam at Foam Next Door from January 13 until March 3, 2019, and travelled to New York, London and Frankfurt.
