Providing bespoke funding solutions to support new art.
What we do
We are the only international, independent charitable organisation that pools donations from our partners and patron circles to support contemporary art.
We draw on our network of experts to identify what is most needed in the arts and respond with tailor-made and impactful philanthropy.
We offer unique and insightful experiences to our partners and patron circles at the heart of artistic creation connecting them to our wider global network.
We build strong alliances between the private sector and public institutions, enabling a perfect circle of support: from the production of art to its placement in a public collection.
We are dedicated to supporting projects that challenge thinking and further the artistic discourse to inspire new audiences.
In the face of increasing intolerance, it is the ‘long journey of generosity’ of organisations such as Outset that enable us to deliver ambitious and engaged programmes, deeply committed to the fundamental messages of the arts, which are experimentation, multiplicity, love and inclusiveness.
Hans Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director, The Serpentine Galleries
The most significant support you can receive as an artist comes early. Outset do this with passion, commitment and trust. They show a belief in the process of creating art. It is extraordinary to find people who can share your vision and be in a position to allow new work to be realised both as advocates and be enabling financial support.
Outset is a renowned global network that has the profile to support the arts like few others and open doors to otherwise hidden treasures of art.

Outset’s ongoing support for Cubitt’s Curatorial Fellowship has enabled the gallery to maintain its commitment to supporting and facilitating contemporary art at its most exciting, challenging and innovative best.

Outset is the finest philanthropy of its kind, offering its patrons the opportunity to engage with contemporary art at the raw, creative level, directly with artists, with immediate impact.
Scott Collins, Managing Director, Summit Partners, L.P., Outset Capital Circle Patron
Outset is simply outstanding: There is no other independent foundation spanning over eight countries empowering institutions and artists to collaborate. Outset puts no limit to the possibilities and embraces creativity with great courage. Outset is the life support for ambitious works of art.
Udo Kittelmann, Director, Nationalgalerie, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin
Outset supporters become part of an international community of interesting like-minded people. I have been informed and stimulated but, and this is important to me, we also have a great deal of fun. It is very gratifying to see what a significant difference Outset can make with our contributions and to see the work produced by artists Outset has helped.

The key to Outset is in the name. They are there at the outset of a project, able to support the realisation of an artist’s idea and watch it come to fruition.

⚡️Outset is thrilled to announce the new Cubitt Curatorial Fellow •LOUISE SHELLEY• ⚡️ The Outset-supported Cubitt Curatorial Fellowship is a unique opportunity for research and curatorial experimentation in the field of visual arts; based on an 10-month residency, it is the only such scheme in the UK and one of very few in the world. Since its inception, it has developed into a major platform for curatorial development. Louise was previously working at The Showroom, where she set up in 2010 and led Communal Knowledge, a programme of collaborative projects where artists and designers are invited to work with community groups, organisations, schools and individuals from The Showroom's neighbourhood. ‘We must safeguard the thriving cultural heritage that defines London as the world’s artistic capital. Otherwise where will we be in 10 years’ time if we let all artists and creative production migrate away from our city?’

Looking back at the amazing installation by artist Marianne Jõgi and composer Ülo Krigul at Battersea Park during Art Night. Based on mathematical calculations, this intimate and acoustically active environment promotes relaxation, wellbeing and supports learning. Curated by Hanna Laura Kaljo. Delighted to see artist Ben Judd’s community engaged project at Art Night this weekend!
Ben Judd presented a participatory site-specific installation in the heart of an existing community. Five temporary, reusable domes were built on the square of Doddington Estate, Battersea. The work invited both visitors and the local community to help to complete the domes’ construction, working alongside architectural practice EVA Studio. Participants could inhabit the domes for Art Night, eating a meal made from locally-sourced ingredients; the spaces also facilitate discussions around the subjects of community and the urban landscape. By exploring notions of identity, community, engagement and estrangement, this work actively encourages participants to examine the diverse ways in which social groups can develop.
Our patrons will also be paying Ben Judd a visit later in the year at The Gallery, De Montfort University in Leicester as part of Outset supported project fig-futures.

Very excited to see Outset supported project ‘Groundwork’ in the Financial Times this weekend! .
‘Groundwork’s willingness to risk weaving its story out of the transitory, travelers and unexpected makes it a valuable new strand in the fabric of our cultural world...Unlike some other mis-adventures, this one is indisputably worth going out of one’s way for.’
