In March 2013 Outset supported a spectacular fundraising initiative, The Big Bamboozle at Camden Arts Centre. For one afternoon and evening only, the entire building and garden was transformed into the studio and bohemian seaside home of a certain Finchley Arkwright-Keslake-Essendine (F.A.K.E), ‘one of the greatest, but most overlooked, female artists of the 20th century’.
The daytime programme offered many family activities including children’s workshops, life-drawing classes, a visit to the beauty salon of Finchley Arkwright’s personal beautician Alexandra Soveral and delicious food from Street Feast.
The evening featured special performances, live music and an auction of ‘Mimicist’ artworks by Goshka Macuga, Francis Upritchard, Richard Wentworth, David Batchelor and many others.
The Big Bamboozle, in partnership with Outset Contemporary Art Fund, The Art Room and writer Sally O’Reilly, helped Camden Arts Centre raise funds for its artist residency programme, supported by Outset since 2004.
