In the summer of 2011 Outset supported Old Acquitance Should Be Forgot a residency of the Viennese collective AO& which marked the launch of the 2011 OFT. AO&, which comprises Philipp Furtenbach, Thomas A. Wisser, Philipp Riccabona and Rainer Fehlinger, take over sites and environments. Here, they host evenings where they present a series of multi-course dinners using locally sourced ingredients. ‘Old Acquaitances Should Be Forgot was their first residency in London.
For their residency in Hoxton Square AO& transformed the ground floor of Lincoln House through architectural interventions and lighting design. Living and setting up a fully functioning kitchen on site, they prepared a series of 12 course dinners for 15 invited guests each evening. The artists selected ingredients from specialist producers, following extensive research trips throughout the UK and Europe.
The sourcing, preparation and presentation of food plays a crucial role in their work. AO&’s past projects have included residencies at John Gerrard’s studio in Vienna, Simon Preston Gallery in New York and a series of interventions in rural areas throughout Europe.
